Twice in the last two months I have secured a video session after the client went somewhere else first and could not get a firm ballpark figure of what their project would cost them.  In preparing my own business model I occasionally check out other services like mine to see if I’m staying competitive.  I have been in an email conversation for about two weeks now with a company and after many requests for a ballpark figure I have yet to receive a price.

You must make sure that you are accessible to the potential client.  If you can’t give some kind of price immediately then your pricing strategy might be too complicated.  Keep things simple and think ahead.  Try not to have a bunch of add on’s.  Just figure in all the stuff that you may need and give a price.  It’s a ballpark anyway and then after you make a move you can then read the client and decide at that point whether you want to negotiate.
